Elle connut une première impression en français chez François Regnault en 1521. Elle est imprimée par Antoine Couteau pour le compte de Galliot Du Pré. La troisième partie (La Descente et ligne des roys francois) n'est pas reprise dans cette impression dont le titre original latin est conservé en titre courant. L'illustration comprend environ 105 petits bois dans le texte, copiés sur la deuxième édition donnée par Bonhomme et Regnault la même année : portraits, scènes de la vie du Christ, vues de villes (Rome, Londres, Paris), armoiries et médaillons pour figurer la généalogie. Bon exemplaire avec les figures coloriées à l'époque. Titre un peu défraîchi, avec une petite cassure anciennement réparée sur le bord. Timbro alla prima e all'ultima pagina e alla fine dell'opera una bella marca tipografica. Capilettera decorati. Rara edizione dei “Mercuriales” di Giovanni D’Andrea nel commento del giurista francese Nicolas de Bohier. Giovanni D’Andrea (1271-1348), detto anche “Bononiensis” fu considerato anche in vita uno dei maggiori giuristi della sua epoca: le sue “Quaestiones mercuriales” sono una raccolta sistematica di problemi giuridici e dottrina, che l’autore chiamò così perché venivano dibattute di mercoledì nello Studio bolognese. Amico di Petrarca e Cino da Pistoia e sodale di Papa Giovanni XXII, D’Andrea fu anche un personaggio chiave nella storia dell’ateneo bolognese: le sue “quaestiones” furono considerate da subito un’opera fondamentale del diritto canonico. A rare edition of D’Andrea “Mercuriales”, with remarks of Nicholas de Bohier. Giovanni D’Andrea (1271-1348) was one of the major juris of his time: this is a deep collection of juridic questions, early considered a cornerstone of Canon Law. A friend of Petrarca and Cino Da Pistoia, D’Andrea was also a key player of the Bologna university.

Ex libris nobiliare di Williams Henry Riggs, noto per esser stato un importante collezionista di armi e armature medioevali. Ottimo e fresco esemplare dell'edizione originale di questo romanzo, pubblicato dall'autore sotto lo pseudonimo di Louis Randol, parodia della moda del romanzo nero alla Anne Radcliffe, alla quale lo stesso autore offre la sua opera che indica come 'badinage'. Non solo, nella dedica sottolinea come nel titolo abbia voluto indicarsi come traduttore e non come autore. Nell'opera che riporta all'antiporta una immagine tratta dal romanzo della scrittrice inglese (L'Italiano), rientrano tutti i materiali mutuati da quest'ultima, mentre, in fine, sempre in chiave parodistica, troviamo un ampio 'Catalogue de romans nouveaux et anciennes'. Eusebe De Salverte fu autore di poesie, opere teatrali e testi politici. Implicato nel tentativo rivoluzionario del 13 vendemmiaio, fu condannato a morte in contumacia e, in seguito, scagionato. This bibliographical quirk is entirely unrecorded: no source mentions any cancels in this volume. Each of the three tracts has a separate title-page, but the pagination is continuous. Printed mainly in Roman types, but with many words and phrases printed in black letter (Gothic) types. The appendix is taken entirely from the Domesday book, and is thus in Latin. The extensive glossary (68 pp) represents an important advance in English legal lexicography. Many terms in this glossary are given in Anglo-Saxon and Middle English. Folio. Beautifully bound in 19th-century half morocco and marbled boards. Binding somewhat worn at extremities, but still very solid and attractive. Internally FINE AND BRIGHT. A rare and important book, perhaps unique in this state.

Tutte di ottima fattura, le stesse delle edizioni del 1515 e 1523 (vedi ESSLING 791 e 793). Edizione molto bela e rara, manca ad ADAMS, BM. STC: e COIX. Purtroppo con difetti: vecchi rattoppi al frontis e all' ultima carta, alcuni tarli marginali, macchia di inchiostro al margine bianco delle prime 12 carte che tocca il testo nelle prime 5. Qualche ombreggiatura peraltro esemplare accettabile per la sua bellezza e rarità, ben completo e con xilografie in ottima tiratura. Il vol. è citato solo da SANDER n° 3740.
