194974100495Ashford Kent UK: The Ashford Kent & Susses Tithe Payers' Association 1949. Book. Fair. Paperback. First Edition. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. 67 pages with forty-four illustrations. Circa 1949. Abundantly illustrated with very interesting black and white photographs which document a multitude of protests. "The Tithe Act of 1936 has left an entirely unsatisfactory state of affairs. It leaves the tithe-paying farmers disgruntled and antagonistic and puts the country in the position of placing a proportion of its most important citizens in this unsatisfactory state of mind for some sixty years. Agriculture is in fact made the scapegoat for the Church of England. The Government has satisfied its Church financially without the consent of its farmer tithe-payers. See London Demonstration. We therefore invity your perusal and study of the following pages and hope that you will find them instructive provocative and amusing. First leaf loose. Occasional markings to contents. Very rough copy of a most unusual work. The Ashford, Kent & Susses Tithe Payers' Association Paperback
