Includes a statement on "Howl" answers the question imperative or noun and Arthur Miller on writers' status in the US. Also notices by Yates and Zahn on poetry workshops. Coastlines was a left-leaning publication that lasted between 1955 and 1964 replacing The California Quarterly when it folded in the mid-1950s. It published many radical poets including John Beecher and Thomas McGrath both of whom lost their teaching positions during HUAC hearings.
