Ottimo esemplare intonso. Seconda edizione (la data dell'edizione, assente, è stata ricavata dalla scheda catalografica di SBN / ICCU), di queste accese pagine antitedesche del Podrecca. Il libello sferzava lo scandalo Harden-Eulenburg, o scandalo della Tavola Rotonda, seguito a una serie di processi relativi all'accusa di rapporti omosessuali (all'epoca illegali in Germania), accompagnati da processi per diffamazione, fra esponenti di spicco del gabinetto e della cerchia dell'imperatore Guglielmo II di Germania fra il 1907 e il 1909. La prima edizione era apparsa col titolo La tavola rotonda in Germania nel 1919 presso il Mantegazza di Roma. A cura e con introduzione di Nicola De Aldisio. Vetrina Minima. Pagine ardenti. N. 28. Il Podrecca (Vimercate, 1860-New York, 1923), fratello del famoso marionettista Vittorio Podrecca, fu allievo del Carducci all'Università di Bologna, militante socialista e scrittore, nonché cofondatore nel 1892, con Gabriele Galantara, dello storico periodico satirico "L'Asino", imbevuto di idee anticlericali, antigiolittiane e socialiste e sulle cui pagine egli si firmò con lo pseudonimo "Goliardo". La sua azione di propagandista e conferenziere gli procurò denunce ed arresti che lo portarono ad emigrare a Lugano. Condannato in contumacia, ritornò in Italia nel 1901. Consigliere comunale a Roma nel 1907, fu anche eletto deputato nel collegio di Budrio. In seguito alla sua apertura alla Guerra di Libia, egli maturò la rottura con Galanatara e venne espulso dal Partito Socialista. Divenuto acceso interventista e nazionalista, nel 1919 passò al movimento fascista, fondando il periodico "Il Primato Artistico Italiano", col quale egli intendese propagandare "il nazionalismo-primato artistico italiano protagonista nel mondo". Nello stesso anno 1919 si presentò candidato a Milano insieme a Mussolini e Marinetti. Attivo conferenziere e propagandista anche all'estero, si spense a New York il 19 aprile 1923. CUBI, 468378. The covers are rubbed and the leather is splitting along portions of the joints. 4 & 512 pages with occasional textual illustrations. Issued separately and later bound there is a light horizontal crease to the middle of the pages. There is offsetting to the endpapers and pastedowns occasional minor foxing and the edges of the pages are lightly darkened. Good. <p>From the collection of Dr. Gassner Baonssarzt with his name penned at the top of the front endpaper and with his initials and further annotation penned in a calligraphic hand in the middle of that leaf.<p>Among the contents of the 53 issues are Hermann Nothnagel's experiments on rabbits that show chloroform and ether may produce fatty changes in the liver heart and kidneys. Also included is the first reported case of infantile splenic anaemia by Dr. Gretzel assistant to Dr. Wilhelm Griesinger. In 1866 Gretzel encountered a ten month old child with anaemia and an enlargement of the spleen. He suggested that the disease in question was not leukaemia. Griesinger suggested the name "splenic anaemia". The physiologist Leonard Landois a pioneer in the study of blood transfusions together with the neurologist Albert Eulenburg contributes seven articles under the title "Experimentelle und praktische Beitrage zur Transfusion des Blutes". Dr. Hermann Beigel contributes a series of three articles on hypodermic injections. Dr. Hugo von Ziemssen contributes four articles on the value of galvanic currents in medicine.
