The present example containing both volumes in one is a reissue of the first edition of 1720 with the leaf following the title-page of the second volume reset and the privilege statement giving 1720; it is now uncommon with WorldCat finding => only one U.S. institutional holding.<br>Â Â Â Â Provenance: Front free endpaper with affixed slip reading "Louis Duval Archiviste du département de l'Orne." Duval 18401917 was a prominent librarian and archivist and co-founder of the still-active Société historique et archéologique de l'Orne. <br>Â Â Â Â <br>Â Â Â Â Not in Brunet not in Graesse. D'origine modeste, il fit des études au collège des jésuites et une carrière dans divers couvents. Il rédigea une Histoire du Portugal et une Histoire de la Suède qui eurent beaucoup de succès. Il fut nommé Académicien par le Roi puis continua sa carrière d'historien et publia de nombreux ouvrages, dont le Traité des Mouvances de Bretagne, Histoire des Révolutions de la République romaine et l'Histoire de l'Ordre de Malte.
