Only slight flaw is lightly sunned spines, and very soft corner wear, otherwise completely clean inside and out. Pages uncut. 149 black & white plates illustrate the history of European garden design. Text in French. All the highpoints of English, Italian, Spanish and Islamic garden design are touched upon in the text and illustrated in the plates. Small 4to's, 9" high X 6 1/2" wide, 120 & 165 pages + plates in each volume. A beautiful set in stiff light green card wrappers. Ex-library book with the usual stamps, stickers, etc. Binding is solid and text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind save those from the library at front. Author was president of Reichsbank, piloting Germany through the financial dangers of 1923 to 1929. It was the historic German financial collapse of 1923 that first brought Dr. Schacht into prominence. In November of that year he was made the Imperial Currency Commissioner with the specific purpose of stemming the nation's hyperinflation. This book is one of the best contributions yet made to an understanding of post-War difficulties in finance and economics. In particular," -- from the intro.
