P, une vignette de titre, 16 hors-texte et 8 dans le texte. Tirage limité à 267 exemplaires. Celui-ci l'un des 76 exemplaires nominatifs sur vélin d'Arches réservés à un groupe de Bibliophile, dédicacé par l'artiste, avec une suite de toutes les illustrations et la décomposition de l'un des hors-texte. This is a near fine softcover 2 volume set of this French classic on the history of garden design. Only slight flaw is lightly sunned spines, and very soft corner wear, otherwise completely clean inside and out. Pages uncut. 149 black & white plates illustrate the history of European garden design. Text in French. All the highpoints of English, Italian, Spanish and Islamic garden design are touched upon in the text and illustrated in the plates. Small 4to's, 9" high X 6 1/2" wide, 120 & 165 pages + plates in each volume. A beautiful set in stiff light green card wrappers. These books will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.

This copy was PRINTED FOR THE ARTIST and includes two additional suites of the etchings on fine Auvergne laid paper (the first state [with remarque] in black and the final state in bistre), a suite of the four planches refusÈes, and a WONDERFUL PEN AND WATERCOLOR DRAWING, SIGNED AND DATED BY THE ARTIST. It is justified "Exemplaire unique imprimÈ pour M. Guido Colucci". The 31 etchings are in final state (on Japan, of course, and unique as such), and first and the last are signed in pencil by the artist (the first etching is also warmly inscribed by the artist to Colucci). *****(2) FOUR ADDITIONAL SUITES OF THE 31 ETCHINGS: the first (remarque) state in black on Japan (UNIQUE); the first state in black on Auvergne laid paper; the second state (with many of the remarques still partially visible) in black on Auvergne (UNIQUE); the final state in bistre on Auvergne. *****(3) ALL OF THE ORIGINAL DRAWINGS FOR THE ETCHINGS USED IN THE BOOK. 1912, In-folio relié demi maroquin noir à coins, filets à froid sur les plats (reliure de René KIEFFER, avec tampon et étiquette), dos à nerfs, tête dorée, gardes de papier marbré. Suite complète en épreuves d'artiste des 37 gravures avec remarques (petites gravures) des jardins de Versailles, toutes signées de Charles JOUAS. Elles sont toutes montées sur onglets , à grandes marges et ont toutes des remarques différentes dans la partie inférieure des marges. En début d'ouvrage, un dessin original signé en couleurs de Charles JOUAS représentant le Bassin d'Apollon, dans un encadrement à filets rouges et titre manuscrit rouge également. La couverture de l'ouvrage d' Henri de REGNIER a été ajoutée. Exemplaire unique, superbe qulité des gravures. Très bon état
