Originalet utkom i Paris 1815. Lucien Bonaparte 1775-1840 Napoleon I:s bror. Förhållandet med denne växlade starkt genom åren. Själv en av initiativtagrna till 18 brumaire-kuppen blev han av brodern ständigt påmind om vem som hade vem att tacka för sin ställning. En brytning kom till stånd 1803 och Lucien förvisades till Rom och inledde där förbindelser med påven som utnämnde honom till prins av Canino 1814. Samma år försonades bröderna. Efter 1815 levde Lucien mestadels i Italien och England. unknown
