This publication - in Latin but with an Italian title - was also published as part of the proceedings of the 7th congress of Italian scientists held in Naples in 1845 at which Bonaparte presided over the zoological commission. "As early as 1831 Bonaparte became interested on the great principle of classification and was critical of Cuvier's concepts. In ichthyology Bonaparte made use of the location the structure and the relationships of the branchiae in the classification of fishes. Bonaparte tried to establish our knowledge of various zoological groups once and for all and published numerous synopses conspectuses and catalogs" DSB.Binding worn with the head of the spine damaged and a large tear at the back repaired with tape. Lucien Bonaparte Prince of Canino 1775-1840 was a younger brother of Napoleon and a French statesman who played an indispensable role in Napoleon's rise to power. He wrote this heroic poem on Charlemagne while living in exile in England where he was forced to stay after attempting to obtain a passport to go to America. Lucien Bonaparte Prince Francais 1st Prince of Canino and Musignano 21 May 1775 29 June 1840 born Luciano Buonaparte was the third surviving son of Carlo Buonaparte and his wife Letizia Ramolino. Lucien was a younger brother of Joseph and Napoleon Bonaparte and an older brother of Elisa Louis Pauline Caroline and Jrme Bonaparte. Lucien held genuinely revolutionary views which led to an often abrasive relationship with his brother Napoleon who seized control of the French government in 1799 when Lucien was 24 Complete in two volumes. Rebacked in calf with speckled boards. Externally sound though with some slight wear to the extremities. Three joints are starting. Internally firmly bound.
