Osburn who according to her hand-written note on the book's front endpaper helped collect the book's genealogical records on the Dunklin County Missouri "Austins" relatives of her father. In this copy Mrs. Osburn has hand-written copious ink annotations of geneological and historical interest on the verso of numerous maps and other plates and in the margins of dozens of pages.
