34712Delamarre, imprimeur, 1809 (sur étiquette contrecollée en page de titre : adressé à sa Majesté le 23 mars 1809) - in-8 demi-veau (210X135mm) , dos manquant, (4) + 90 pp; IV + 202 pp. L'ouvrage est orné en frontispice du portrait de l'auteur présentant son mémoire à Napoléon, d'une épître dédicatoire gravée dans le texte et de deux tableaux dépliants : analyses graphologiques et analyse comparée de causes similaires. Le titre annonce trois gravures et deux tableaux, mais les 2 autres gravures ne sont pas présentes, et ne sont signalées dans aucune édition. RARE. Mémoire sur un cas célèbre de machination familiale ou d'usurpation d'identité selon les protagonistes. Adélaïde de Champignelles avait fait enfermer son mari, le marquis de Douhault, à Charenton pour une violente épilepsie. En 1786, elle disparut mystérieusement et fut déclarée morte à l'état-civil. Une femme réapparut deux ans plus tard qui revendiquait cette identité et accusait la famille du marquis de l'avoir enlevée pour attenter à sa fortune. Malgré de nombreuses preuves, dont l'authenticité est aujourd'hui mise en doute, et des défenseurs comme Berryer, elle ne put convaincre ses juges et fut alors connue dans Paris comme la femme sans nom, toujours déboutée malgré vingt ans de procédure. Elle tenta en 1808 un recours devant l'Empereur, qui échoua. Elle renouvela en vain sa requête auprès de Louis XVIII et de Louis-Philippe. Dos manquant, 1er plat fragilisé, intérieur en très bon état, rares rousseurs.
