This book is widely regarded as the definitive work on the evolution of Houston's performing arts. the book examines the people institutions venues and cultural movements that shaped Houston’s performing arts scene across several decades. It is divided into three main sections: early history the little theatre movement and regional theatre and finally local theatre. The result is a meticulous account of the city’s theatrical development from small experimental groups to major venues like the Alley Theatre. The author drew from a wide range of sources including programs reviews and correspondence. A one-of-a-kind resource.
