Very good. Will ship rolled.

Very scarce original poster from the UESCO-designated IBY 1972 promoting American participation in the observance. The initiative sought to emphasize the importance of books and literacy in education and culture as well as the social role of all those involved in publishing - from authors to printers booksellers libraries etc. The U.S. Secretariat operated from roughly 1971 in the planning phase through 1973 following the observance.

The image on this poster was generated on computer at Dolphin Productions Inc. a New York-based animation house that produced some of the earliest computer animation and graphics in the U.S. It was printed by Auto Screen/Lehigh Inc. on mylar supplied by Arkwright Interlaken.

Really a tremendous frequently reproduced and visually appealing piece; futuristic in design this image speaks to the importance of books and literacy in the age of early computers. There is a listing in OCLC for this poster but it does not cite any physical holdings. . U.S. Secretariat, International Book Year, 1972 unknown
