He was tribune of the people (52 B.C.) and praetor (46). He was ejected (50) from the senate ostensibly for adultery, but more probably because of his partisanship for Caesar. He served with Caesar after his pra etorship, and was his governor in Numidia; he was subsequently accused of misusing his governorship for personal gain. His principal works are the Bellum Catilinae, on the conspiracy of Catiline, and his account of the Jugurthine War, Bellum Jugurthinum. His history of Rome is extant only in fragments; it probably covered the period 78 B.C. to 67 B.C. As a historian Sallust was important as one of t he first to write historical monographs dealing with sharply limited events and periods. Although his style is consciously archaic, it is distinguished by its terseness and directness. His character s ketches are particularly impressive and vivid, and his work has found as many imitators as critics - Columbia Encyclopedia. A very nice example of one of the best editions of Sallust. **PRICE JUST REDUCED! SMALL BOX 1

20 pages. Circa 2000. An 80 point memorandum of law filed by Ernst Zundel's lawyers in 2000. Sets out facts and argues that Justice Campbell's Federal Court of Canada decision was correct regarding bias and that Zundel should not have been forced to be judged by a Canadian Human Rights Commission tribunal in the circumstances extant. "In a May 14, 1998 editorial entitle 'Justice Deniers', the Ottawa Citizen wrote that since the Human Rights Tribunal had been found to be systematically biased, 'it is not possible for Mr. Zundel, or anyone else, to have a fair hearing before a Canadian Human Rights Tribunal as these tribunals are now constituted.' Ernst Zundel continues to fight to obtain justice before a fair and impartial tribunal. His case will be the standard against which the rights of all other Canadians will be measured." - from page 2. Clean and unmarked with light wear. Circa 2000? Book

"Compiled from the more than 135,000 secret oil company documents that were seized by government investigators in raids between 1973 and 1978.... Shows that the oil companies purposely restricted competition, worked together to keep prices and profits up, and sacrificed Canadian interests when they were told to do so by their foreign parents." - from back cover. Considering that Esso sounds eerily like an acronym for the Rockefeller's Standard Oil (S.O.) readers of this work will also surely be interested in the early writings of Ida Tarbell and her revelations about the methods of that company and its founder, J.D. Rockefeller. Has anything changed? Book

281 pages. Extensive footnotes. Fourth printing of the 1961 first edition. "In my own time, governments have taken the place of people. They have also taken the place of God... I have written chiefly of one government in this book - that of the new Jewish state of Israel... I am a Jew. I come of a long, never-broken line of Jews... They did well by the world... What happened to this fine heritage when the Jews finally fashioned a government of their own in Israel; what happened to Jews when they became Jewish politicians, what happened to a piety, a sense of honor, and a brotherly love that 2,500 years of anti-semitism were unable to disturb in the Jewish soul? My answers are in this book." - from Preface. Staining to front endpaper, otherwise contents clean and unmarked. Binding intact. A sound reading copy. Book

"Explores the treachery between - and within - the nations that were ostensibly allies during the Second World War. Demonstrates the extent to which the Allied war effort was driven by vested interests, primarily concerned with the balance of power in the post-war world rather than the defeat of Germany and Japan, thus prolonging the war by as much as two years and resulting in a Europe divided between East and West, and the onset of the Cold War." - dust jacket. 155 pages. Black and white illustrations. "This book is a first attempt to analyse the Paris Agreements and to show the great dangers which they entail for all Germans and all the peoples of Europe. The book was completed at the beginning of January 1955 and does not deal with any of the written and oral secret agreements which form part of the Paris Agreements and which have, so far, been kept secret. This book is intended to be a contribution to the maintenance of peace in Europe and the reunification of Germany." - from Preface. "The main aim of the Paris and London agreements is to rearm German militarism and turn a remilitarised West Germany into a military camp of the imperialist Western Powers. It is noteworthy that every effort has been made to camouflage this decisive fact - the creation of a West German Army." - The opening lines of the book. Unmarked. Average wear. Binding intact. 39 pages. Dedicated to man's age-old effort to create a government strong enough to protect him without creating a force strong enough to enslave him. "Most of the mystery surrounding what we call money results from the illusion that money, in itself, is something: in reality money, in itself, is nothing. If the reader of this book will open his/her mind to this apparently paradoxical truth, he will more easily understand the true nature and function of money. Written for the millions of citizens whose lives are directly and seriously affected by money, but who have never had access to a simple analysis from which they could gain a working knowledge of the subject. We wish to point out, however, that this book merely dissects and examines: it expresses no opinions. Any quarrel with this book is not a quarrel with the authors: it is a quarrel with the facts of our economic life." - from Preface. Average wear. Contents unmarked. Beige covers soiled with unsightly stain at top of front board. Binding intact. Good working copy. Book
