Louis-François de Paule Tillette de Mautort (Abbeville, 1752 - 1812) entra comme volontaire au régiment de Champagne en 1768 avec lequel il fit la campagne de Corse. Il est promu capitaine au régiment d'Austrasie en 1780. Il resta cinq ans en Inde avec le bailli de Suffren. Emigré en 1792, il vécut misérablement à l'étranger et, profitant de l'amnistie, se retira à Abbeville en 1802. Mémoires intéressants pour l'histoire de la noblesse de province à la fin du XVIIIe siècle confrontée à la Révolution, pour l'histoire de l'émigration, et pour l'étude de la vie militaire en guerre ou en garnison d'un cadet de famille. Belle et élégante reliure, rousseurs notamment sur la couverture conservée. Bon exemplaire. Peu fréquent.

The limitation page is the verso of the title page. This copy is numbered 118 of 250 copies and is signed "CCJ Jr." Jones authored the prefatory note pages 3-8. The first edition of this tract was originally published in 1724 with few known copies. The author settled 600 of his countrymen in Purrysburg South Carolina. Interior contents mostly clean.
