With three letters featuring correspondences between Martin Gilbert and Peter Metcalfe on the creation of the companion volumes with three being signed by Gilbert and one by Metcalfe. In the publisher's original cloth with the original unclipped dust wrapper to all but three volumes which are clipped. A fourteen volume set comprising of four volumes of the biography complete in eight and ten volumes of the companion volumes complete in thirteen. This set includes: "Volume I: Youth 1874-1900" and "Volume II: Young Statesman 1901-1914" by Rudolph S. Collated complete. This set features four volumes of the official biography on the important historical figure Winston Churchill with the first two volumes by Randolph Churchill Churchill's son and the other two by Sir Martin Gilbert. The set also includes ten volumes of the companions featuring the documents. In the publisher's original cloths with the original unclipped dust wrappers to all but three vols which are clipped. Externally only the odd minor mark occasional minor bumping and very minimal scattered damp stains to 'Vol IV' otherwise excellent. Wraps to the biographies are smart with sunning to the spines and closed tears to the extremities heaviest to 'Vol II' and the odd slight mark. Wraps to the companions have slight sunning to the covers and spine minor handling marks and minimal edge wear including the odd very small closed tear. Tidemarks to the verso to 'Vol I part 2' and tape repair to Vol I Part 1'. Internally firmly bound with bright and generally clean pages with light spotting to the odd fore edges.
