HARDCOVER first two volumes uniformly bound in half cloth and marbled boards gilt spine with the original printed IFAO wrappers bound-in these bit edge frayed and with a repair or two. Plates volume is in the original printed wrappers edge frayed front loose back gone. With that in mind an excellent set in fine condition the interior of the first two volumes is in superb state of preservation practically new and all the plates are in fine condition. ~ FIRST EDITION. Percy Edward Newberry 1868-1949. Provenance: First two volumes previously at the Czech Institute of Egyptology Charles University in Prague with a stamp to that effect on first page of each volume. The round stamps display the Greater Coat of Arms of Czechoslovakia 1918-1938 and have been officially cancelled. Otherwise clean and printed on good paper.
Oversized hardcover half-bound in red leather. French text. This is a single copy given by Ms Campana to David Moribaud, (as stated in French annotated in pencil to FEP), and bears the book plate of Paul Moribaud on the front paste down. Includes litho frontis, Pxxvi pp text, 63 actual mounted photos and many descriptive leaves of text. Board edges are rubbed and worn with general signs of wear and use to front and rear boards. It appears to have been rebacked at one time, but this has now failed and the spine piece, front cover, and small section of early pages are loose from the binding. The FEP & REP are a tad grubby. Moderate foxing to internal pages andd some tanning of page edges. Short pencilled description of book and contents on second endpage. (Easily removed if desired). Photographs are all in very good condition. Quite heavy. AD Used

Five volumes. Quarto. Pp. viii, 409; 420; 443; 376; 517. The first four volumes are in the original publisher's installments, 16 in total, bound in stiff wrappers which are bit frayed in places. The fifth volume is hardcover, bound in the original publisher's blue full cloth, crimson morocco lettering-piece to spine, gilt cover. In a very good to fine condition. ~ First edition, entirely in the original state. Published posthumously. The first four volumes, Spruch 213-506, were published a year after Sethe's death. Sethe's original manuscript was transferred to print by an old, now defunct method called "Manuldruck", also known as "Reflex Copying Process". The four volumes were printed by the inventor of this method, the printers' firm Max Ullman of Zwicaku. In 1962 appeared by Augustin Volume V, Spruch 507-582, which is presented here also in the first edition, to be distinguished from the second edition of the entire work which also appeared that year. In that year appeared also the index volume which is not included here. Provenance: From the library of renowned Egyptologist Prof. Dr. Heerma van Voss (1923-2015) with his charming bookplate inside each cover and occasionally with his neat pencil annotations. Hardcover, bound in contemporary quarter calf and matching pebbled cloth customized for the British Museum with it's emblem embossed in gilt on each cover, spine with raised bands between gilt decorated and lettered compartments, very slightly chipped at head, gilt ruled sides, gilt tooled board edges, marbled endpapers and bookblock edges, cloth inner hinges. In a very good condition. Handsome copy, very well preserved. ~ First edition. Provenance: previously in the collection of the British Museum with contemporary small emblematic and withdrawn stamps to that effect.
Volumes I-V complete, first edition hardcovers without dust jackets, in very good condition. Volume I signed by N.F. Wheeler and Dows Dunham, and Volume II-V signed by N.F. Wheeler.
