Ilmari Sysimetsä November 23 1912 Pori - September 26 1955 Helsinki was a Finnish advertising graphic artist. Sysimetsä enrolled as a student at Pori Lyceum and graduated in 1937 as a drawing teacher from the School of Art and Design. From 1936 to 1941 he worked in the advertising agency of Erva-Latvala and as a freelance artist after the wars. From 1949 he owned his own screen printing plant. Sysimetsä was the secretary of the Association of Art Drawers from 1948 to 1953. Sysimetsä designed the official poster for the Helsinki Olympics. Already for the 1940 Olympics a competition poster design competition was held in 1938 which Sysimetsä won. When the decision on the new Games was made in 1947 only the order number and dates of the Games and the map of Finland were updated on the poster. Translated Wikipedia-article unknown
1925146480N.p.: N.p. 1925. Vintage double weight photograph of New Haven's Olympia Theatre circa 1925 with the marquee advertising F. Harmon Weight's 1925 film "Drusilla with a Million."

The Olympia Theatre located at 140-144 Temple Street in New Haven Connecticut opened on September 13 1915 seated 2373 and was equipped with a Wurlitzer theatre pipe organ. It changed its name when purchased by Paramount Studios to the Paramount Theatre circa 1930. The theatre was razed as many of the grand silent area theaters have been following decades of declining ticket sales circa 1970. The current retail/office building on the location is now known as the Olympia Building.

8 x 10 inches. Near Fine. N.p. unknown books
1925List1311Olympia 1925. . Limp pebbled calf portfolios measuring 12 ½ x 10 ½ inches with 106 illustrations nearly all photographic of furniture. Interior fine some wear to portfolios overall quite well preserved. Near Fine. The Henry McCleary residence in Olympia was built in 1923 sparing no expense. The mansion still stands today on 21st Ave. and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. McLeary a timber baron and president of the Henry McCleary Timber Company also spared no expense in his furniture choices for his new residence as this pair of portfolios by the decorator E.R. Bradford shows. With furniture proposals for each room of the new house the portfolios showcase in great detail the fine furniture of the era. Some of the companies represented are the Munago and Tobey companies of Chicago both of which have letters sent to McCleary included in the group. McCleary married Mrs. Hildur D. Simons during this period an event that was covered locally and in lumber trade journals. Overall the group provides a photographic record of fine furniture of the 1920s with McCleary’s taste for timber perhaps coming across in the fine Midwestern furniture he chose to furnish his new residence. We find no record of the decorator an E.R. Bradford who was responsible for assembling the albums. unknown
