With the exception of the Bauhaus there is most likely no other art movement of the first half of the twentieth century that has had such an influence on our everyday lives as the De Stijl group around Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg. Mondrian alongside Wassily Kandinsky and Kasimir Malevich one of abstract painting s founding fathers created strictly geometrical paintings that today are icons of modernism. Their characteristic structure with fields of primary colors framed in black has long assumed a life of its own in art fashion advertising and popular culture. One focus of the publication is Mondrian s development toward abstraction from his early works in the circle of the Neo-Impressionist luminists to his neoplasticist period. EDITION ORIGINALE très rare de cet opuscule dans lequel le grand peintre hollandais expose la doctrine de l'ensemble de ses théories plastiques et philosophiques. Ce texte devait d'ailleurs être publié en allemand en 1925 par les éditions du Bauhaus. Au début, cette note de l'éditeur: "Le français un peu spécial utilisé dans cette brochure, résulte de la volonté de l'artiste, de nationalité hollandaise exigeant àjuste titre une approximation aussi complète que possible de sa pensée". Intéressante reliure de Jean DE GONET selon le procédé "Revorim". Très discrète ancienne petite mouillure claire dans le coin inférieur droit des feuillets.Les reliures RIM ordinaires ne sont jamais signées. Les reliures RIM ORIGINALES le sont. Les reliures RIM en souscription sont signées et numérotées sur une étiquette ce qui est le cas ici.
