Robert Kempners copy. A lawyer and historian, Kempner was born in Germany. Arrested by the Gestapo after he publicly called for Hitlers deportation, he was released and fled to Italy and then to the U. S. From 1946-49, he was chief prosecutor of Nazi political leaders at the Nuremberg Trials. He also helped assemble evidence for Israel during the Eichmann trial.
