Vault Copy Draft script for the 1929 film stamped three times with "Vault Copy" and annotation of the name of uncredited crew member "Mr. Cohn" on front wrapper in holograph pencil. <br/><br/>Based on the 1928 novel by S.S. Van Dine the fourth of twelve Philo Vance mystery novels. The body of man nicknamed "Cock Robin" is found at an archery range with an arrow through the heart and a chess bishop left as a clue. Basil Rathbone's only portrayal of the stylish New York P.I. Philo Vance. He would take on the role of Sherlock Holmes for which he is best known beginning in 1939.<br/><br/>Beige titled wrappers with M.G.M. label dated AUGUST 10 1929 with credits for author S.S. Van Dine and director Nick Grinde. Title page integral with first page with credits for screenwriter Lenora J. Coffee. 135 leaves with last page of text numbered 135. Minor edge wear and light soiling to boards. Internally clean. Very good plus. This directory here in its first year of publication is an extremely detailed compendium of information and statistics on virtually every aspect of Colorado territory covering its history geography and geology natural resources etc. "This Directory gives useful information on the early territorial history of Colorado including the various conventions and forms of government in the early days railroads colonization and early mining" - Streeter. The volume also includes an accurate directory for Denver Golden City Black Hawk Central City Nevada Idaho Georgetown Greeley Colorado City Pueblo Trinidad etc. An appendix for the Denver directory includes the noted western artist A.E. Mathews who had recently published GEMS OF ROCKY MOUNTAIN SCENERY and the Chinese tea dealer Tang Fee. This text is further supplemented by more than 200 pages of advertisements for local businesses. A more useful and comprehensive guide to pre- statehood Colorado would be difficult to find. Though published in Denver by Samuel Wallihan who also edited the work this book was printed in Chicago and is therefore also an example of a Chicago ante-fire imprint. However it is not listed in the American Imprints Inventory list of Ante-Fire imprints nor is it in Eberstadt Graff or Decker. Howell paid $110 for the Streeter copy in 1969. HOWES C611. It was the first animated Disney film in which none of the legendary "nine old men" were involved in the animation process. Ken Anderson created the beloved dragon loosely modeling him after historical Asian imagery. Upon release the film was criticized for its composite animation and underdeveloped plot. However it was nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Original Song and Original song score. <br/><br/>Shot on location in California. <br/><br/>10 x 8 inches.
