The first kitchen I photographed was that of my neighbour in Ruse the city where I grew up in Bulgaria. After that I photographed the kitchen of my father. Those first pictures opened many doors. I visited and photographed most of the Balkan countries. <strong>Interiors are very expressive</strong>. It's amazing how much they can say and communicate. They tell stories in an unmistakable manner. I grew up there during the <strong>communist period </strong>and when I was a child people had the illusion of choice but mostly between two types of the same thing. As a consequence most flats especially those in the cities looked quite similar. People tried to compensate by adding some extravagant elements to their interiors.<br /><br /></em> <em>Ho iniziato a lavorare alla mia serie Kitchen Stories in the Balkans nel 2010. La prima cucina che ho fotografato è"; stata quella del mio vicino di casa a Ruse la città dove sono cresciuta in Bulgaria. In seguito ho fotografato la cucina di mio padre. Quelle prime foto hanno aperto molte porte. Ho visitato e fotografato la maggior parte dei paesi balcanici. <strong>Gli interni sono molto espressivi</strong>. È incredibile quanto possano dire e comunicare. Raccontano storie in modo inconfondibile. Sono cresciuta lì durante il <strong>periodo comunista</strong> e quando ero bambina la gente aveva l'illusione di poter scegliere ma sempre tra due tipi della stessa cosa. Di conseguenza la maggior parte degli appartamenti specialmente quelli nelle città si assomigliavano molto.
