Warmly inscribed and long by Mr. Weller to Albert Rhys Williams on the front flyleaf. A scarce books with rare inscription by Charles Frederick Well and gifted to a friend and notable writer and labor activist. <br/><br/> <br />Charles Frederick Weller was born on August 19 1870 in Chicago Illinois. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in 1894. One of his first positions was as director of the Chicago Bureau of Charities. Weller and his wife Eugenia were leaders in the recreation movement in Washington DC establishing the first playground there. They also established a variety of organized charities including the Englewood and West Side districts of the Chicago Bureau of Charities. In addition Weller was director of the National Council of Boy Scouts and in 1941 founded the World Fellowship Center with his wife in Albany NH. In 1952 he handed over the reigns of the Center to Willard and Ola Uphaus. He died on May 18 1957. Dartmouth College <br />Albert Rhys Williams September 28 1883 February 27 1962 commonly known by his middle name pronounced "Reece" was an American journalist labor organizer and publicist. He is most famous for writing memoirs in favor of the 1917 October Revolution in Russia: he had been both a witness and a participant.
