From the library of the Celsing brothers at Biby mansion in Södermanland. First edition of Jean Baptiste Colbert’s history of the negotiations before the peace of Utrecht. It is considered invaluable for its coverage for the treaty of Ryswick 1697 and the following War of the Spanish succesion 1701-14. A second edition was printed in 1757. Jean-Baptiste Colbert marquis de Torcy 1665-1746 was an important French diplomat and a force behind the serie of international conferences that led to the peace treaty of Utrecht in 1713. The Celsing brothers Ulric and Gustaf were Swedish diplomats mostly in Constantinople and famous for their collection of Ottoman portraits and paintings. hardcover
