Profusely illustrated throughout with excellent engravings many of which had not been published before including some by Victor Hugo himself. A very comprehensive account of the life and times of Victor Hugo. A little foxing internally. In original black quarter-leather binding with marbled paper covered boards and most attractive marbled end papers. The boards are a little rubbed at the edges but the black leather spine is really nice with bright gilt and showing virtually no wear. A Very Good tight copy which has aged well.
