Decorative head and endpieces and initials rendered lithography and in offset. Exceptional and significant work giving an richly illustrated account of three months of travel in Persia. Volumes one and two deliberate on Persia's geography agriculture commerce industry political and military situation as well as religious customs. Volumes three and four are an account of the 1907 return to Persia via Ishqabad Mashhad etc. and return via Isfhan Tehran and the Caspian Sea. On his second voyage D'Allemagne was accompanied by Jean Vinchon taking photographs and field notes which became the basis of this work. The work is beautifully illustrated with 255 full page illustrations on plates including several maps 26 full page color lithographs 18 high-quality color offset reproductions all with captioned tissue guards. In addition the set contains a multitude of in-text illustrations including full page reproductions rendered in lithography and high quality offset. The collection represents an important ethnographic collection featuring Persian rugs and ceramics. Henry-René D'Allemagne was a French historian librarian author and collector who amassed a large collection of Islamic items acquired by P. T.
