An exceptional and lavishly illustrated history of lighting and oil lamps from ancient Rome until the 19th Century filled with an extraordinary variety of lamps lanterns and oil lamps candelabras candles and with a distinct focus on ornamental ironwork and metalworking. DAllemagne 1863-1950 was a noted French scholar in decorative ironwork ornament costume and collector whose scholarship included treatises on playing cards jewelry costume design and metalwork.
