The playful illustrations by Sinclair Ross alternately reference Hollywood and the frontier West. Endpapers reproduce the autographs of many of the celebrities featured in the book. A pocket-sized tourist brochure advertising the Fuji New Grand Hotel on the shores of Lake Yamanaka. <br> <br>The Fuji New Grand a sister to the New Grand Hotel in Yokohama is said to have opened to much fanfare in 1936 and served as a popular retreat during the interwar years becoming the secondary subject of many atmospheric depictions of Mount Fuji. Following the war alongside her Yokohama sister she was requisitioned by SCAP and converted into a retreat for Allied personnel though following the occupation was unable to reclaim her former glory. The Fuji New Grand was ultimately closed and demolished in the 1970s. . unknown
