Querformat. (ca. 13 x 17,6 cm). 1 Karte. Original-Karton mit Einladungstext und Familieninitialen. Karton etwas randgebräunt, sonst gut erhalten. Altersentsprechend guter Zustand. Die historische und überaus bürgerliche Einladungskarte aus dem Jahr 1885 gab die Hochzeit der Familien Hennig und Schulze bekannt. Polterabend und festliches Mittagsmahl nach der Trauung sollten am 26. März 1885 im Hotel de Brandebourg (Charlottenstraße 59) stattfinden. Nur ein Jahr später - im Sommer 1886 - wurde das alte Gebäude (von 1781) abgerissen und durch einen Neubau der wilhelminischen Zeit ersetzt. Sehr seltenes Relikt aus dem bürgerlichen Berlin und Preussen in der Zeit vor 1900!

191910028Avalon Santa Catalina Island Calif 1919. Menu 17.6 x 13.5 cm. 2 pages. A menu for this historic resort hotel on Santa Catalina Island. The Hotel St. Catherine was born of a disastrous fire of 1915 during which the Banning home burnt to the ground taking much of Avalon with it. The Banning family built the original Hotel on the site of the fire opening on June 28 1918 a bit more than a year before this menu was printed. Offerings include Queen Olives Seville olives selected for larger size Steamed Albacore Celery Sauce Fried Honeycomb Tripe a la Horley and Fig Soufflé Pudding. The verso lists "Things to Do" including Glass Bottom Boat Trips – "see the submarine gardens"– Auto Stage Scenic Rides "Cornell's" Isthmus Barbecue Saddle Horses and more. The verso text is framed in an engraved image of sailboats in the sea around the island. Horizontal crease across the center of the leaf otherwise fine. unknown

William Pembroke Fetridge's American Travelers' Guide described the Grand Hotel as a "Splendid first-class Hotel situated in the most fashionable and frequented part of the town in close proximity to the Imperial Grand Opera the Imperial Palace." with "300 rooms from 1 floor upward".
