Two inter-related tough-guy novels by the Bay Area author with a curious appended interview with the main character questioning his ties to the Communist Party in the 1920s and 1930s. Manly adventure crime several fistfights some gunplay characters converse realistically but also tend to declaim on such subjects as railroads and doing business in Central America on physiognomy and on palmreading "chirography" in the text. Lilienthal also promoted New Orleans to northern investors in 1873 through a book of photographs.
