40970inscribed to Fernando León y CAS Marqués del Muni 1842-1918 Spanish politician and a diplomat Ambassador to France from 1887-1918 showing him standing next to a chair with his hand folded on the hilt of his sword 9" x 6½" max in frame 15" x 10" no place Alfonso was a monarch from birth as his father Alfonso XII had died the previous year. Alfonso's mother Maria Christina of Austria served as regent until he assumed full powers on his sixteenth birthday in 1902. He married Princess Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg the daughter of King Edward VII's youngest sister Princess Beatrice and a granddaughter of Queen Victoria. unknown
