200788059Bogotá: Universidad Nacional de Colombia Facultad de Artes 2007. 21 cm. Colección Punto Aparte. 172p b/w plates ports. frontis facs. meas. draws. appens. bibl. ind. pict. b/w pict. fldg. wrps Author Ardila Luna reconsiders the artistic representation of nature and the constant concern against natural disasters developing theories on the crisis of modernity and how different environmental effects have affected Colombian art. The study is divided in 2 chapters: 1 "The Interprested Landscape" is a study of a landscape exhibition by the same name organized in 1999 by the museum of the Banco de la República and 2 "Art and environmental anxiety" analyzes various exhibitions where artist reflect their ecological concerns. Includes interviews with Alberto Baraya and Maria Elvira Escallón. This is a major contribution to the literature on art landscape the environment and the relationship of disaster facing Colombia. Printed in embossed Moon type for the blind a simplified system of embossed reading for the Use of the Blind.Oblong Folio printed throughout with "Moon type" title; 1 85 ff.; publisher's brown cartridge stiff wrappers lettered spine label. The present Christmas Annual for 1938 printed as a gift by the Moon Society includes holiday themed poetry and stories. A most unusual Christmas gift annual.

William Moon contracted smallpox as a young child and by age 22 had lost his sight completely. Frustrated by the quality of embossed reading systems he had tried he developed his own system based on roman lettering with portions of the letters omitted in order to make the characters more discernible to the touch. Moon's system was easy to master particularly for those who had learned to read before losing their sight and it became very successful. However nowadays examples are rarely encountered.
Moon Society paperback books
