Generally very good. <br /> <br /> Extravagant subscription publication along with salesman's sample of this comparative religion work from Frank S. Dobbins 1855-1916 who wrote several books on the subject. This volume explores pagan gods devils demons and evil spirits worshipped by mankind throughout the ages and up to the end of the 19th century. It also covers idols temples shrines sacred places incantations sacrifices customs legends and myths and other subjects. <br /> <br /> The sample consists of specimen pages with publishing proposal and pages for recording subscriptions. Perhaps this book didn't sell well as we've found almost as many instances of the sample book in the trade as the full publication. A lovely and scarce set. Edgewood Publishing Company unknown

The subject of the second part is natural and supernatural secrets for example how to make a girl come to you "However Modest She May Be." The third part is the Key of the Work the Magical Knife Lancet Sacrificial Knife etc. The fourth part consists of the Sanctum Regnum ie: Conjurations for Lucifer Beelzebub and Astraroth and the manner of licensing the devils to depart unto their abodes.<br /> <br /> Known as "The True Grimoire" this is one of the most renowned handbooks of black magic. The text examines Satan as the serpent of Eden in Genesis III exploring various interpretations of Satanic agency temptation and the Fall within the tradition of Protestant biblical interpretation. This was a popular choice for blessings: “exorcisms to drive away various evils and conjurations to drive away aerial storms excited by demons and their ministers†trans. The first edition was published in 1651 and many editions were published going forward a testament to the popularity and utilization of the text. This copy clearly well-used and splashed with holy water throughout though remains in presentable condition<br /> <p><br /> OCLC cites only 2 holdings each for the 1651 edition and 1655.  </p> .
