As one of the leading London booksellers of the twentieth century when the brothers opened their first bookshop the business grew so rapidly that by the 1920s they held a stock of four million volumes. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece fifteen plates and nine in-text figures. Collated complete. The life of Mistinguett born Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois a French actress and singer who was at one time the highest-paid female entertainer in the world. Translated and edited by Hubert Griffith a British playwright and editor. From the library of Christopher Foyle a British philanthropist and the chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. In the original full cloth binding. Externally very smart with light fading to the spine and a mark to the front board. Internally firmly bound.
