From the exemplary collection of maître d'hôtel Maurice Guérin who worked from the 1930s to the 1960s at top restaurants in the South of France and aboard the S.S. Normandie. Signed and inscribed to the front endpaper by the translator to William Alfred Westropp Foyle a British bookseller and businessman who co-founded Foyles bookshop in 1903. As one of the leading London booksellers of the twentieth century when the brothers opened their first bookshop the business grew so rapidly that by the 1920s they held a stock of four million volumes. Illustrated with a portrait frontispiece fifteen plates and nine in-text figures. Collated complete. The life of Mistinguett born Jeanne Florentine Bourgeois a French actress and singer who was at one time the highest-paid female entertainer in the world. Translated and edited by Hubert Griffith a British playwright and editor. From the library of Christopher Foyle a British philanthropist and the chairman of the famous Foyle's Bookshop in London. In the original full cloth binding. Externally very smart with light fading to the spine and a mark to the front board. Internally firmly bound.
