Book is in excellent condition with deep red cloth HB covers, slight fading at top edge, bright white print at spine. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no other blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket suffers edge wear with small iopen tears, delaminating, general scuffing. 139pp. Illustrated with ten color plates and sixty black and white prints, often large or full page. Previous owner's name on front endpaper. Book examines the groups Die Brucke, Blaue Reiter and Les Fauves, and the artists Kirchner, Nolde, Pechstein Schmidt-Rottluff, Kandinsky, Vlaminck, Derain, Kollwitz et al. Printed on heavy, non-glossy paper, no foxing.

This catalog was prepared to accompany the traveling exhibition which originated at the Musee d'Art Moderne in Ceret from June 12 to October 12, 2008. Catalog essays by Krisztina Passuth and eight other scholars. The exhibition featured the works of Hungarian painters working in the Fauve style. Painters included: Vilmos Perlott Csaba, Robert Bereny, Geza and Tibor Bornemisza, Istvan Csok, Derzso Czigany, Bela Czobel, Valeria Denes, Sandor Galimberti, Vilmos Huszar, Bela Ivanyi Grunwald, Karoly Kernstok, Nana Kukovetz, Odon Marffy, Andras Mikola, Jozsef Nemes Lamperth, Dezso Orban, Jozsef Pechan, Tibor Polya, Bertalan Por, Jozsef Rippl-Ronai, Armand Schonberger, Lajos Tihanyi, Janos Vaszary, and Sandor Ziffer.
