Très bel exemplaire.Pourquoi un peintre aussi renommé que Dürer forme-t-il et réalise-t-il le projet de rédiger un manuel de géométrie ? Pourquoi un artiste maniant avec une maîtrise achevée le pinceau et le burin cherche-t-il à traduire en mots des gestes familiers aux hommes de métier, mais difficiles à décrire dans l'allemand un peu fruste qu'il avait seul à sa disposition ?Dürer veut d'abord transmettre à ses compagnons artistes ou artisans les connaissances géométriques qu'il a pu recueillir pendant un quart de siècle dans les ateliers, dans les livres anciens et dans les traités des théoriciens italiens.
