Er unternimmt ausgedehnte Reisen lebt in Paris und tritt als Volksliedsänger auf. 1957 hat er hier seinen Durchbruch als Maler. Seine abenteuerlichen Reisen per Fahrrad durch Europa und Afrika sowie seine Abrechnung mit der kommunistischen Ideologie sind ein Bestandteil des Buches. Die politische und psychologische Situation im Nahen Osten wird sowohl aus israelischem wie auch arabischem Blickwinkel geschildert. Seine Autobiografie die er in dritter Person erzählt ist ein literarisches Zeugnis unserer Zeit. Ein sehr authentisches und phantasievolles Buch. Aber eigentlich habe ich von Arik Brauer gar nichts anderes erwartet. Und keine Biographie im herkömmlichen Stil wo einer aus seinem Leben in der Ich-Form berichtet sondern viele Geschichten wo Erich und Arik aber nicht nur sie als handelnde Personen vorkommen.
