Sotheby's printed the catalogue in a then-unusual large format to permit the inclusion of color plates that had been prepared by William Heinemann for "Purely for my Pleasure" Maugham's account of his collection which was published after the sale. Color plates include rarely reproduced images by Toulouse-Lautrec Leger Monet Matisse Picasso Pisarro Renoir Rouault Sisley and Utrillo. Unusual and collectible even in less-than-pristine condition. 29 cm square; 63 pages including 16 color plates and 15 half-tone plates. Preface by Maugham. Frontispiece portrait of Maugham by Marie Laurencin. Bound in green paper-covered boards superimposed with the "Mauresque" symbol that Maugham adopted as his seal.
