The slipcase is covered in matching cloth gilt vignette and lettering on the front which mirrors the book lined with maroon paper. With a sheet with a description of the book serving as the prospectus one sheet printed on one side.<br/> <br/>___CONDITION: Volume is fine with a strong square text block solid hinges perfectly straight corners with no rubbing the interior is clean and bright and it is entirely free of prior owner markings - crisp as new. Slipcase is also fine strong and sturdy clean without wear. He was also a member of the Communist Party USA was wounded at the Battle of the Bulge fled the US to Mexico in the 1950s to avoid being called before HUAC and upon his return to California won the Pulitzer Prize in 1969. With a portrait and eight etchings all present by Charles Edouard de Beaumont and two illuminated Persian designs. <br/><br/>Montesquieu 1689-1755 was a French political thinker and philosopher as well as a social commentator during the Enlightenment. His theories of separation of powers feudalism and his perspective on the Byzantine Empire have established his role as precursor for many fields of social anthropology including slavery reformation. These volumes comprise an excellent early example of an epistolary novel. <br/><br/>Each volume with light foxing throughout two Honduran postage stamps on the front pastedowns a few contemporary owner ink stamps and small blindstamps on some of the preliminary and rear pages a two small chips at one of the paper spine labels with light shelfwear overall else Near Fine. Her fame actually increased when the Society for the Suppression of Vice remember this was 1915 tried to confiscate her art; this naturally drew more attention to her art which was thereafter published in works such as Vanity Fair. Looking at the etchings in this book might cause comment even today; they lavishly celebrate the feminine figure and are rampant with sexual innuendo. <br/><br/>This one of the 250 special edition copies bound in full morocco by Whitman Bennett N.Y. and printed on special deckle-edge Pannekoek paper. The text according to the title page an exact copy of the "Earliest English Text Printed in Holland by Joh.
