Ever had the feeling of deja-vu? October 1929 and some of the people who shaped those times are examined in this book. Light shelfwear and rubbing to dust jacket.
Book is in excellent condition with one bumped corner, very light scuffing. Binding is solid and square, covers have sharp corners, exterior shows no other blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Previous owner's name or sticker in front section of the book. Limited edition of only 500 copies. This is number 413 and signed by Ben Shahn, the artist. "The Alphabet of Creation" is one of the legends from the "Sefer Ha-Zohar" an ancient Gnostic work written in Aramaic by a thirteenth century Spanish scholar named Moses de Leon who presented the work, not as his own, but as mystic knowledge revealed many centuries earlier to the Rabbi Simeon ben Yohai. This catalog was prepared to accompany the exhibition which was organized by Fukushima Prefectural Museum of Art and travelled through Japan in 1991. This is the second retrospective of Ben Shahn's work directed by Kenneth Prescott, the first was in 1969. List of works with 163 works cataloued.
