William James Linton was an Englishman who emigrated to America to try his fortune after suffering from financial difficulties in England. He is said to have reached the highest point of execution in engraving in wood. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally with a crack to the tail of the front joint. Light marking to the boards. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities. Label to the rear pastedown. Hinges are starting but firm.
