The scene would rather be the dense tropical jungle, disease-carrying insects, and prowling beasts of prey. He would work and live alone, and bivouac for months on end under tropical rains with but the scantiest of provisions. That is why this book is entitled The Pioneers. A scarce GE-produced compilation of short biographies of famous African-Americans which seems to have been printed to co-incide with a "Negro History" segment on Cleveland pop music and sports radio station WJMO in the late 1960s the station is now a Christian music and talk station. One of four volumes we located four copies of the full set in reality these may or may not be incomplete in worldwide library holdings with three in the Cleveland area. The Cleveland Light Guard militia unit which formed the nucleus of what became the 7th Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the American Civil War the first regiment rendezvoused and organized in Cleveland. The 7th was one of the most experienced regiments of the Union armies. They saw action all across the eastern theater fighting in many of the major campaigns.
