An architectural environment of the Early Republic Period (1923-1950) has an effective language explicitly revealing political and cultural aspects of the Republic. Under such conditions, architects coming from German-speaking countries contributed quite significantly to the establishment of the International Architectural Style of Turkey in the '30s. Throughout the 1930s when the Building of School Political Sciences constituting the subject of the study was constructed, the International Architectural Style conveyed to Turkey by means of architects coming from Germany-speaking countries had a growing impact in the country. Ernst Egli, one of those architects, was one of the pioneers of this "modern" style with his numerous designs, and his educator and manager identity. Egli, son of Johann Jakob Egli, (1840-1918) carried out significant works in the field of educational buildings which he dealt with cautiously and fastidiously and explicitly regarded as a symbol of prestige. Primarily educational buildings together with National Education Ministry Construction Office management, Istanbul Fine Arts Academy Architecture Branch management, and teaching, design, and application of important public buildings in Ankara are among the said studies. (An important building for the representation of modernization project: Swiss architect Ernst Arnold Egli and Ankara Political Sciences School, Leyla Alpagut.).

Very Good Greek, Modern (post 1453) Original wrappers. Large 8vo. (21 x 16 cm). In Greek (Modern). 21 p. First and only edition of this exceedingly rare and one of the earliest church regulations of the Greek Orthodox community of Attalia [Antalya]. Attalia was not a large urban center or major trading hub, but neither was the Greek Community marginal, and it was well integrated into the regional economy. It was different from other areas in Asia Minor due to a combination of factors ranging between demography, geography, local Orthodox leadership, and the city's social milieu. In contrast to the West-coast cities and many villages in Asia Minor with Orthodox majorities, Attalia's population was only about one-third Orthodox. The main area of difference in Antalya was the Community leadership, which was key to the maintenance of cordial relationships between Christians and Muslims, and the secular and ecclesiastical elements of Orthodox leadership in Antalya tended to cooperate for collective benefit. Throughout this period, a local elite managed to control education and other Community institutions, perpetuating an identity that was compatible with the local Ottoman context. In this last period, the Greek Community printed several books and tractates including a brief history of Antalya and this "regulation book" in the Meli Printing House, which was the only printing house of the Greek Community in Antalya. Only one institutional copy is located in OCLC 1030075331 (Suna Kiraç Library of the Koç University).

This book was a project to mark the Bicentennial of the creation of East Flamborough Township, and the 25th Anniversary of The Waterdown-East Flamborough Heritage Society.... a celebration of the creation of the township and a visible record of what the first settlers had achieved. The collection of rural pre-Confederation buildings in the Township of East Flamborough is among the finest in the province. Recognition of this heritage is the theme of the book and around it have been woven the stories of the families, businessmen, entrepreneurs and religious leaders who created this inheritance. Divided into sections on Aldershot, Waterdown, Carlisle and Mounstberg, each building is captured in beautiful black and white photographs and the history of the land and the families who lived there is told in detail. lllustrations and maps by Patricia Green, Photographs by Maurice Green. 97p.illus Book
