This is a near fine hardcover copy in a maroon satin cloth binding in the publisher's card slipcase. Slipcase worn at edges. Each volume has a maroon silk pagemark. Completely clean inside and out. Text completely in RUSSIAN. Basically two volumes connected at the spine, bound dos-a-dos. One volume has mostly text and black & white illustrations. The second volume has color plates. This book is a thorough survey of the famous Pokrovsky Cathedral in Moscow. The Cathedral of Vasily the Blessed, commonly known as Saint Basil's Cathedral, is a church in the Red Square in Moscow, Russia. The building, now a museum, is officially known as the Cathedral of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos on the Moat or Pokrovsky Cathedral. It was built from 1555- 1561 on orders from Ivan the Terrible. Bibliography. 13" high 6" wide (each volume), 255 pages + 123 pages of plates. This book will be securely wrapped and packed in a sturdy box and shipped with tracking.
2 vols., 8vo., First Edition, with frontispieces and 40 plates, some very slight and wholly inoffensive spotting; original green patterned cloth, upper boards elaborately blocked and lettered in blind to a Celtic design, gilt backs, one backstrip moderately sunned as often (but all lettering entirely legible), a very good, clean, crisp set. Vol. Western Division [half-title: 'The Churches of West Suffolk']; Vol. II: Eastern Division [half-title: 'The Churches of East Suffolk'].George Allen's 'County Churches' series is absurdly underrated. In the present case over 530 churches are described (albeit briefly) and the work as whole forms a delightful, pocket-size compendium. Uncommon as a set, especially in this condition. Steward, 2250.
