Two volumes collecting thirteen eighteenth century devotional pamphlets regarding the worship and doctrine of the churches of England and Scotland the Bishops and clergy of Ireland scripture-faith and religious liberty. Two of the individual pamphlets bear the ownership inscription of Scottish antiquary bibliophile and grand tourist Walter Bowman 1699-1782; the manuscript lists of contents are also in his hand. Bowman a friend of Horace Walpole was a member of the Society of the Dilettanti a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries 1735 and the Royal Society 1745. He made several tours of Europe the first with Simon Harcourt later the first Earl Harcourt adding to his collections of antiquities his library and his manuscript notebooks several of which are now at the National Library of Scotland. .
