Richard J. Tuttle (1941?2009) taught Renaissance architectural history at Tulane University for thirty years (1977?2007), before moving to the University of Bologna?s Department of Architecture and Urban Planning in 2007. He was the author of numerous groundbreaking and award-winning studies on Renaissance architecture, sculpture, and urbanism, and was the world authority on sixteenth-century Bologna and the architect and theorist Jacopo Barozzi da Vignola. Nadja Aksamija is Associate Professor of Art History at Wesleyan University. Her published and forthcoming books and articles have examined, among others, sixteenth-century villas and castles in Bologna and Dubrovnik, notions of sacred landscape in Counter- Reformation painting and emblematics, and the restoration of Renaissance architectural monuments in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. She is the recipient of prestigious grants and fellowships from the Getty Foundation, the Kress Foundation, and the Villa I Tatti in Florence, among others. Francesco Ceccarelli is Associate Professor of Architectural History at the University of Bologna. The focus of his research is the early modern and modern Italian city, from the Renaissance through Neoclassicism. He is the recipient of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei?s prestigious prize in History and History of Geography (2000) for his innovative research on the strategies of urban development in the Po valley during the Renaissance.

This is a good softcover copy in the original illustrated wrappers. Generally clean inside but, some underlining and short tiny notes by a previous owner an art historian. This is a handbook for the Museo Prenestino's collection of ancient Greek sculpture. 13 page introductory text, and room by room descriptions of the sculpture in the collection. Some of these room sections have notes. 54 black & white plates. A good reference copy. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.

Le peintre s'adresse à un destinataire probablement en poste au musée de Picardie d'Amiens, qui lui avait donné des nouvelles de ses oeuvres conservées dans le musée encore en travaux d'angrandissement : "J'étais en effet très attristé de savoir d'une part mes tableaux en péril, et ceux qui doivent les compléter enfermés depuis plus de deux ans dans une caisse qui menaçait de devenir un cerceuil - je m'y sentais avec eux - je souffrais aussi de voir fuir cet été incandescent et si propice à la construction sans qu'une pierre eût été posée, ce que vous dites me rassure pour l'avenir." Il évoque également son ami Charles Borély, premier conservateur du musée de Picardie, qui n'a pas pu voir le musée achevé : "Puisse Dieu me porter vie et me permettre de voir s'achever ce monument - mon pauvre ami Borély si dévoué à son musée n'aura pas eu cette joie".
