This book showcases and puts into historical context a host of sculpted works created in the 1920s and 1930s in the decorative vernacular defined loosely today as 'Art Deco'. It is not necessary to look for detailed sculptor's drawings in Dedries laden. For him, an image is an image, not a spatially filled drawing. Dedrie dreams and sees the image mentally. Again and again he builds it up slowly and unrepeatably. He assembles it, casts it in bronze, sands and caresses it almost endlessly? to that One image with that spiritualized patina radiation.
