The UK edition was published earlier the same year. Showell Styles was a mountaineer and novelist who led several expeditions in the Himalayas and the Arctic. He wrote over 160 books for both children and adults with this book focusing on Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay's expedition to become the first people to climb Everest. Briggs 1934-2022 was an illustrator graphic novelist cartoonist and author. The winner of numerous awards including the Kate Greenaway Medal twice the Hans Christian Andersen Award the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award and the Kurt Maschler Award Briggs noted that "the whole point of illustration is that it is literary. If it is not it remains a drawing only. Something must be 'going on' in the illustration" Horne p. 124. He is chiefly remembered for Father Christmas 1973 Fungus the Bogeyman 1978 When the Wind Blows 1982 and the perennial classic The Snowman 1978. Quarto. Illustrated throughout by Raymond Briggs. Long time members Michael Lardie Audie Desbrow and Tony Montana had not yet joined the band. Great White was a four piece unit and leaned more to the heavy metal side than the pop metal of their later releases. <P> TRACKS: 1. Out of the Night2. Stick It3. Substitute 4. Bad Boys 5.
