First edition in English of Barini’s charming tale about a anthropomorphic creature composed of matches cut from an old Japanese willow tree and animated by the spirit of the willow. Barzini 1874-1947 is perhaps best remembered as the Italian journalist who accompanied Prince Borgheese in his famous Peking to Paris automobile race. Longstreet Price 1891-1968 was a noted American artist & book illustrator well known for her illustrations in the Ruth Campbell series as well as those for Louisa May Alcott.
